FAILURE ANALYSIS

Failure analysis is a methodology where scientific processes are used to determine why a device did not function as intended.

HOSE FAILURE

Hose failure, due to excessive clamp

force, results in strain on a fuel hose

causing a fuel leak and fire in the

engine compartment.

FAILURE OF A CONNECTING ROD

Connecting rod buckled at arrow as a

result of hydrostatic lock from water

ingestion.

CRANE FAILURE

Crane failure as a result of overloading.

The crane was slowly moving a large

structure into position when one track

sank into soft soil, causing an overload.

CLUTCH FAILURE

A clutch pressure plate sustained a sudden failure

as a result of improperly torqued

mounting bolts.
